Who We Are:

Jill and HollyPersimmons of Northern California is rooted in the love of age-old traditional crafts and joy of creating with nature's palettes.  In a rural high school, Holly Sweet taught her student Jill McClure the traditional art of spinning. They used silky hair of angora rabbits and fleece from a neighbor's sheep and gathered plants to create unique, natural dyes. They have explored many mediums in the textile arts; blending fibers for soft original yarns, weaving, knitting, crocheting and hand painting silk.

The first Persimmons garment was created in 1983.
A simple cotton sweatshirt adorned with a hand-knit hood and a knit patch pocket designed to fulfill the need of a local vineyard owner. Twenty years later, our product line reflects our expanded creativity and style.

We use fabrics such as organic cotton, velvet, wool, hemp, recycled Eco-Fleece and silk. Our line of garments includes vests, short jackets with hoods or collars, pullovers and long dinner coats. 100% silk linings, solid-colored or hand painted, complete our versatile designs.

Persimmons is nestled in the redwood and madrone trees of the northern California coastal mountains and our colors reflect the delicate hues of the nature surrounding us. We take pride in honoring the Earth. We give loving care to the animals we depend on for fibers. We also donate a percentage of our profits to organizations that care for our planet and its inhabitants.

Each garment is
a one-of-a-kind work, hand-made with love and care.  Persimmons garments bring warmth and sensuality to your cool season wardrobe and wrap you in the beauty of nature's gifts and the joyful tradition of ancient crafts.
